Tooth Recontouring
Tooth recontouring, sometimes known as enameloplasty, involves reshaping teeth which can be out of line or have been elongated or worn at the edges. Tooth recontouring is normally done without local anaesthetic and can be a very quick and economical solution to a smile or bite problem.
Composite bonding
Composite bonding involves using a tooth coloured filling material to add to the existing tooth structure and can be used with tooth recontouring to level or align the teeth within a smile or to improve the function of the teeth by improving the bite.
Gum recontouring
Often referred to as gingivoplasty or gingivectomy. Just as a smile is framed by the face and lips each individual tooth is framed by the surrounding gum tissue. If these are out of line or you are showing too much or too little gum when you smile gum recontouring can help. Gum recontouring can be an instant help restoring balance and beauty to a smile. Gum recontouring can be done as a stand alone treatment or as part of a bigger treatment plan as can the above mentioned tooth contouring and composite bonding.
Tooth whitening
Professional tooth whitening is an easy, low cost way to improve your smile. Tooth whitening can be done in surgery, so called laser whitening, or at home with a custom made tray and gel teeth whitening system. Both these teeth whitening procedures are available now at Corry Dental Care. Laser whitening is most suitable for very dark teeth and at Corry Dental Care we usually recommend at home tooth whitening.
White fillings / Composite fillings
Tooth coloured, natural looking, and non metallic restorations used to treat decayed teeth or replace less cosmetically pleasing amalgam / metallic fillings.
Orthodontics / Accelerated braces
At Corry Dental Care we can offer the full spectrum of orthodontic treatment, ranging from Inman aligners sectional braces to align front teeth only through to full mouth solutions using fixed braces to improve alignment, appearance, function and occlusion (bite). If aesthetics are your concern we offer aesthetic ceramic brackets and invisible lingual brackets.
Inman aligner
A removable solution for straightening mild to moderately crowded front teeth without extractions, which can be completed within 3 – 6 months and is worn for 20hrs per day and can be removed for meetings etc. It is a clear brace placed on the lingual (inside) surface of the teeth. Sectional braces are braces attached to the front teeth only. The brackets can be ceramic or metal and can be placed on the buccal (outside) surface of the tooth or the lingual (inside) surface of the tooth. Sectional braces or Inman aligners are used to align mildly crowded anterior teeth in either the upper of lower jaws. Both of these are very fast treatments typically taking between 3 – 6 months and involving no extractions. They can be used as standalone treatments or in conjunction with other treatments. Sectional braces and Inman aligners are ideal for treating mild crowding such as relapsed orthodontics or for pre-aligning teeth to be treated using porcelain veneers or crowns. This allows the porcelain veneers or crowns to be done much more conservatively using minimal preparations, i.e. less tooth structural reduction.
Porcelain veneers
Porcelain veneers can transform a smile and improve the function of your teeth. Porcelain veneers are thin pieces of porcelain which are permanently cemented to your existing teeth after minimal preparation of the tooth surface to improve their shape, shade, appearance and function and make you smile with confidence again.
At Corry Dental Care porcelain veneers are carefully planned using a meticulous protocol which involves a wax up to simulate the final shape and provide you with a mock up to evaluate the same. This allows us to prepare your teeth using minimally invasive techniques and to plan the shape of the final porcelain veneers much more accurately and successfully.
We often use orthodontics to align teeth before preparing them for porcelain veneers. This can be done very quickly using modern techniques such as sectional braces or Inman aligners to pre-align teeth which can significantly lesson the amount of tooth preparation / tooth reduction required for porcelain veneers.
Crowns
Like porcelain veneers crowns can be used to improve the appearance and function of damaged, worn or discoloured teeth. Unlike porcelain veneers they usually do involve some more tooth preparation. At Corry Dental Care we use crowns if porcelain veneers or porcelain inlays or onlays are not suitable, for example if we are replacing an existing crown or if a tooth is very badly broken or decayed.
Bridges
Crowns can be joined together to form bridges which are used to replace missing teeth in certain cases. Bridges are nowadays used much less commonly with the increasing use of implants, however in a case where the bone or surrounding area are not be suitable for an implant, a bridge would be the treatment of choice to replace missing teeth. Bridges are a fixed replacement for missing teeth and are anchored to one or more of the neighbouring teeth either using adhesive techniques or by crowning the neighbouring teeth. On some occasions bridges provide a much more aesthetic result than dental implants and are the first line recommendation.
Implants
Implants are an invaluable tool in cosmetic dentistry and are used in many situations where a bridge or a denture would previously have been the only solution. Dental implants can be used to replace a single missing tooth, several missing teeth and even a full arch of missing teeth, as an alternative to wearing dentures. They can be used to stabilize dentures or support fixed replacements for missing teeth. Dental implants make very natural looking replacements for missing teeth as they restore not only missing tooth substance but also support the surrounding gum and bone, resulting in a natural looking tooth replacement with proper gum and tooth architecture to frame it. Although dental implants are a very useful treatment they are not a panacea and after careful consultation and individual assessment we at Corry Dental Care will be able to recommend which treatment is best for you. We will also try to fit in with your lifestyle and, within a budget which is realistic and allows you to control your finances and get the very best dental treatment available.
Dentures
With the advent of bridges and dental implants dentures barely get a mention nowadays in dentistry. However, a carefully crafted denture can be the best treatment option in many circumstances. Whether it be the definitive job or a temporary stopgap we at Corry Dental Care use only the best materials and latest techniques to provide top class, natural looking dentures which replace missing teeth and gum in proportion with each other and your overall appearance to allow you to smile with confidence again.
Dental implants can be used in conjunction with a carefully crafted and constructed denture to provide a more stable solution for your missing teeth and this is often a much better alternative than fixed teeth attached to the dental implants, giving better all round aesthetics and function.
